DAME DOTTIES DIARY - FOUR
Dotty Dimple here again. My, what a week!
The Civic Hall in Bedworth certainly does a wide variety of things and when I popped up the other day the building was totally transformed for the launch of the National Miss Natural Curves 2010 Competition. The wonder of this beauty competition is that it is aimed at girls with curves and not size zero. The National Miss Natural Curves Competition 2010 will be held at the Civic Hall on 24th April next year when 24 competitors will be hoping to win which will then put them in the finals for Miss England no less.
Well, given that I am often described as having a Reubenesqu figure I thought that I would have a go, but the nice co-ordinator, Kerry Edge, reluctantly had to tell me that I might be the wrong side of forty to be considered. Just wait ‘til she reaches that milestone and realises that life does indeed start at forty; she won’t be so quick to dismiss her potential. But I’m not one to bear a grudge and it was great to see more realistically sized girls confident with their looks and there were even displays by lingerie companies who recognise that assets need more than a handkerchief to support them. I must say that it was a brilliant evening and the professional make-up artist actually asked me for advice when it came to filling in my smile lines – you can’t beat polyfiller for that smooth as a baby’s bottom look.
Meanwhile the preparations for the JACK AND THE BEANSTALK continue. We’ve now all been measured for our costumes. I always find that so exciting, choosing the colours to best set off my complexion. Willy – the Technical Wizard - suggested all-over black as it would hide everything but I will not rise to the bait. I am sure he is only teasing, so I am considering Barbie Doll Pink with Tango Orange accessories and Lime Green and Puce. Lovely Lisa is very keen on as much Sky Blue as possible in support of some football team or other. Hear they need all the support they can get. But I have to leave the final choice to the designer so it will be a surprise for all of us.
The old diary is filling up. Next week sees me in Bedworth for a couple of days checking out the shops for the vital bits and bobs that a girl needs to finish her outfit and a coffee and a jaw with my friend Tim who’s putting this altogether and is currently losing sleep over who he should ask to play the back end of the cow. The actor playing the front end is even more worried.
Better stop scrawling – I’ve got an appointment at Dobbies who are trying to weed out my eyebrows.
I’ll let you peep in my diary next week.
