DAME DOTTIES DIARY EDITION 2

Hi Folks,

It’s me – DAME DOTTY DIMPLE (Steve Barclay).  I’m amazed at the number of comments that I have received from readers following my confessions as to how I survive Christmas – extra fruit in the gin, and increased water intake with additional ice cubes – that I have been persuaded to let you in on my secrets as to how preparations for JACK AND THE BEANSTALK at the Civic Hall in Bedworth are going.

I can’t be there all the time, of course, as I have an extremely busy social life hunting for the next Mr Right.  I’ve been a widow for far too long and now that my sons JACK (Sarah Tuson) and SIMPLE SIMON (Andy Pierce) are nearly off my hands – we’ll I do keep leaving the Mega Bus Timetable out in the hope that they’ll get the hint – I thought that it was time that I got out there on the social scene to bring a little joy and happiness to a very rich, very old man who’d like to share his yacht and timeshare with me.  So it’s been a real whirlwind of attending Saga nights, bingo and Grab-a-Grandad at the Post Office.

Meanwhile, the team at the Civic Hall have been busy trying out really bad jokes – that mainstay of pantomime.  Some are even older than me and that’s saying something.  Willy and his team are busy putting in rose coloured filters in the lights so that my double-double chins aren’t too obvious, and Sean is painting the set; Harry’s checking out the maximum sequins we can get away with and Pete is making extra hanging space for my huge wardrobe of wonderful frocks.

Dear BOB BROLLY is practicing so hard for his role as the Voice of the Giant – who’s ever heard of an Irish Giant!  MATT FORD continues to warble in the bath and SARAH TUSON is deciding on the colour of her tights as JACK, and sweet SARAH DUCE is spreading joy and happiness with her magic wand.

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK opens at the Civic Hall in Bedworth on 7th December to 30th December with special ticket prices until 23rd October from only £7.50 available from the Box Office 024 7637 6707.

Must fly – have an appointment with NAILS R US – not sure whether to go for the one-and-a-half inch or the tin tacks.

Love & stuff,

Dotty xxx
